It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the death of Alec Driscoll at the age of 69.
Alec was a true Kennington legend taking 798 wickets in his career from 1968 to 1982. A highly accurate medium pace bowler with the ability to move the ball off the seam, Alec’s finest season was 1976 when he took a record 112 wickets and scored 511 runs, the only Kennington player ever to achieve this ‘double’.
In temperament Alec was not unlike Jimmy Anderson: quiet and studious off the field; highly focussed and determined on it. Alec was captain from 1977 to 1979 at a time when playing numbers were low and without his determination it is quite possible the club would have folded.
The club extends our deepest sympathy to all his family and friends.
